2026 Candidate Filers

2026 Candidates for judicial offices (District, Superior Court, and Appeals Court Judges; Supreme Court Justice; District Attorney; and Clerk of Court) and General Assembly (NC House and Senate) must file a 2026 Candidate SEI.  More information is provided in this 2026 Candidate Newsletter. Candidates for  local offices are not required to file an SEI.

The deadline for filing the 2026 Candidate SEI is January 20, 2026.  The Candidate SEI filing deadline was moved to January by legislation effective October 2023.

Those candidates who filed a 2025 SEI for the same covered position for which they are a 2026 candidate may be able to file a 2026 No Change Form. This is the case if there were no changes to the information disclosed on the last SEI Long Form filed. The electronic filing system will guide you in filing the appropriate form. Before filing a No Change Form please carefully review that Long Form to confirm that there have been no changes to the information disclosed.

Filers who are currently serving in a position which requires that you file a 2026 SEI and are a candidate for reelection should file as a candidate and a current covered person, satisfying both the annual SEI filing requirement and the candidate filing requirement.  However, in order to meet the candidate SEI filing deadline you must file your 2026 SEI no later than January 20, 2026.

Electronic Filing

Ensures immediate confirmation of your filing and saves your information for future filings. Please call (919) 814-3600 with any e-filing questions. Commission staff can help you  register for an account and navigate e-filing as necessary.

Once you log in, the system will guide you in filing the appropriate No Change or Long Form SEI. Please select only the position requiring that you file an SEI.

To correct an SEI already filed electronically, please log back into your e-fling account and start a new SEI. Once logged in, all your previous answers can be viewed and you may make changes as necessary.

We strongly encourage electronic filing, but if you are unable to file electronically, you may print, sign, and mail the 2026 SEI Long Form or No Change Form.
